Dangels end the season with victory in Nyon!

The Dangels finished the season strongly, securing a bonus point victory in Nyon with the very last play of the game. The girls started the game strongly, mostly powered by annoyance that Nyon refused to play for longer than 2 x 20 minutes after we made a 3-hour journey down there. The backs moved the ball quickly out to Lea who streaked down the sideline & under the posts to score the opening try after only a few minutes. We lost our way in the middle of the game with no structure in either attack or defense and again giving away LOTS of penalties. Fortunately, every time Lala got the ball in some space she powered through or around the Nyon defenders and scored a try either side of half-time. With a couple of minutes to go, we were very lucky to escape without a penalty try against us or a yellow-card. However, we defended strongly, turned the ball over & managed to get it out to Lala for a final run & the fourth try.

Final score: Lucerne Dangels 24:0 Nyon Mermaids

Angel of the game: Esti – good defense, good attack, good leadership & some good kicks too!
Devil of the game: the rest of the team
– sometimes it looked like Esti was playing on her own

So, now it’s time to pack away our gum-shields for a few weeks. Hopefully everyone’s injuries heal well & we all come back fit & strong in 2011 ready to kick butt!
