RCL2 continue to grow in skill & confidence vs Zug2

RCL2 are constantly improving as they continue in their first season of competitive rugby. It’s more that simply improving and learning as the season goes on; RCL2 are visibly improving during games. The ambition and confidence was there to see as the game progressed, with players taking more and more risk and responsibility upon themselves.

Sorry, guys, but you’re going to hear this a lot this season: RCL2 played against a team with a significantly higher level of experience. For about an hour, the match was quite evenly balanced. However, as is always the case, the more experienced opposition pulled away later in the game, scoring a couple of late points to embellish the scoreline.

Nonetheless, RCL2 played with flair, passion, and really took the game to Zug2. Running is massively improving, as are response rates/speed at the breakdown and in the loose.  Tobias scored a fine try from #8, looking like he’d been doing it for years.

The scrum was encouraging, with Mick continuing to grow in his new role as prop. Lineouts were good, given the time RCL2 have had to train together. Pete worked hard all day in the difficult position of second row, and Peter “Pee” Marcel showed himself to be a highly promising flanker.

Our backs ran well, with Manu coming from fullback, proving himself to be extremely difficult to tackle.  Boss – with the coaches still trying to figure out where best to use him (a good problem to have!) – was a tough character at center.  Roman and Doppel put in some great tackles, and rucked with cool, clear heads.  Fabu – hope the knee’s OK: we need you, old man!

Patience, continued effort at training, and lots of match practice will maximise the massive potential of this already highly talented bunch of players.

Match result: RCL2 8-20 Zug2

Man of the Match: Tobias; nominated: Manu, Pee

Twat of the Match: Mathias (for thinking he wasn’t playing for RCL2, not knowing he was due at 11:00)
